Author in Residence Program The AMK Author-in-Residence (AiR) Program offers a profound opportunity for both unpublished and published authors to share their creativity and interest in all things Appalachia, with the Appalachian Memory Keepers audience. Each quarter, up to 3 applicants are chosen to participate in the AiR Program. Applicants may apply on a rolling basis for entry into this program. All applicant decisions are made by the AMK Board of Directors. Applicants will be notified of their application status within 4 weeks of submitting a completed application, along with supporting materials. If chosen, each Author is paid a $100 stipend and is required to submit 13 original, unpublished stories (minimum 200 words), along with at least one photo, that has an Appalachian theme.
