Author in Residence Program
The AMK Author-in-Residence (AiR) Program offers a profound opportunity for both unpublished and published authors to share their creativity and interest in all things Appalachia, with the Appalachian Memory Keepers audience.
Each quarter, up to 3 applicants are chosen to participate in the AiR Program.
Applicants may apply on a rolling basis for entry into this program. All applicant decisions are made by the AMK Board of Directors. Applicants will be notified of their application status within 4 weeks of submitting a completed application, along with supporting materials.
If chosen, each Author is paid a $200 stipend and is required to submit 13 original, unpublished stories (minimum 200 words), along with at least one photo, that has an Appalachian theme. Articles can be either fiction or nonfiction. These articles/stories will be published on AMK social media channels and website.
